Our Story

The property at Corso della Repubblica 33 where the B&B del Podestà is located is under the protection of the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental Heritage because it is considered to be of historical and artistic interest.

The same in fact was owned by pharmacist Mazzolini who donated it to my family for being close to him and his spouse in the last years of his life. Ermogaste Mazzolini ancestor of the aforementioned pharmacist, had the famous cabinetmaker Adolfo Ricci from Perugia carve the splendid historic pharmacy that is always at No. 33 Corso della Repubblica. The Mazzolini Giuseppucci pharmacy in Fabriano is one of Italy's most important historic pharmacies. It is a place where time stands still and recounts, like a book written in wood, the extraordinary adventure of man's scientific and technological progress; there you can admire the wooden furnishings made by the artist Adolfo Ricci and the collection that, Ermogaste Mazzolini, bought from the famous Ginori manufactory that reproduce the entire first official pharmacopoeia of the Kingdom of Italy.

In the current entrance, both the backroom and the entrance to the pharmacist's home were located; now the backroom has been eliminated and upon entering the hallway you can see the coat of arms of the former owner.
On the sides of the walls you can view the watercolors left by the various artists for the FabrianoinAcquarello international event that takes place every year; going up 2 steps you find yourself admiring the typical staircase of the palaces of the time, but it is more convenient to access the 3rd floor via an elevator that you find opposite.
Entering the entrance to the b&b you find what was our family's home in the center of town. In the breakfast room, we left part of the furniture such as: the chair by" Machintosh", the chaise longue by "Le Corbusier", the table by "Cassina", the lamp by "Flou", the armchair by "Frau" for our guests to enjoy. In the common parts you will always find watercolors by well-known international artists, while in the four rooms there are paintings by local but no less important artists.

For those who would like more information we attach the link to the historical pharmacy where you can find the herbal specialties produced by the current owner Dr. Giusepppucci
